Pest Control

Three centuries of testing

For more than 300 years, borates have been used to control pests. Insects and other pests cannot process borates as humans and other mammals can. Borates kill termites and other wood-eating insects by breaking the Krebs Cycle in the insects' digestive system which is needed to break down the wood's cellulose. In other words, the termites starve to death. And insects have shown no build-up of resistance to them as they have with other chemical-based pesticides.

Borate-based pesticides are used to control termites, cockroaches, crickets and silverfish, among many other pests. The pesticides are available as sprays, granular baits and contact dust, and can even be combined with a foaming agent for application in tight spaces. Again, once the borates are consumed by insects, they block the insects’ ability to break down sugar (learn more).

Unlike many modern products, borates have withstood the test of time, proving to be one of the most effective, convenient and cost-efficient solutions ever developed for the pest control industry. Best of all, borates are a green solution to the pest control problem.
